Covers sell books!

• This is an old adage, but true. In the beginning, covers provided protection for books.
• Covers served the dual purposes of a way to carry and care for the book e.g. a brown paper bag.
• Covers developed into works of art, designed to convey contents & info. in a marketable form.
• Today, cover design is a highly specialised art.
• It is important that book covers catch the eye of readers, reflect the content, and meet market demands.
