Soul Sense addresses a universal need for a greater sense of Soul in everyday life.

These exercises and suggestions help to develop an intelligence about matters that relate to Soul — its safety, happiness, comfort and self-expression.

It is my experience that there is no substitute for experiential knowing. To enter the heart of healing and nurturing traditions, it is necessary to have a transformative experience.

This may be as simple as putting on a warm pair of socks and curling up with a good book or ... learning to trust and follow your intuition.

These meditations and guides to small processes are designed to bring a sense of Soul back to our daily lives ... we are coming to know Soul through our life in a physical body and on a living earth. This consciousness will protect us from disconnection and its associated illnesses.

It may help to have a quiet place to do this work. Be gentle and protect yourself as you call the Soul home. Make a safe place to retreat to if you get upset, and above all believe you are not alone.

Remembering Soul

It can be an awesome experience to sense your Soul (putting all the philosophical and religious debates about the nature of Soul aside). For a short while, let go of your thinking about words like Spirit, Soul and Being. Put aside the rational ideas that you hold onto about your identity. See them fall to the floor as you might drop a cloak from your shoulders. Breathe deeply. Allow another way of knowing to enfold you. Close your eyes. Let your breath take you slowly and surely to your ‘Soul. Sense’. Breath into the place inside yourself where you know who you are. One by one, let go of all the identities that you and others have created. For this moment, see your career identity, your family identity, your religious affiliations, your age, your race, your gender and your causes fall aside. With each out-breath say to yourself ‘I am no longer son or daughter. I am no longer parent. I am no longer writer or artist or counsellor (use your own identities). I am so much more.’ Know who you are in a different way. Touch the sense of your ‘Soul’. Feel deeply what it is to in your own presence. Remember this place. We will be back here, often.
